“Our continued support of the Fisher House is just one more way for us to thank our nation’s heroes and their families for their service.”

Carolyn Kindle Betz, President – Enterprise Holdings Foundation, May 2015

In 2015, the Enterprise Holdings Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Enterprise-Rent-A-Car brand, announced a three-year, $3 million commitment to the Fisher House Foundation. The initial commitment was renewed in 2017 and again in 2020.

Like the previous commitments, the latest donation will be distributed to Fisher House – a nonprofit organization that provides no-cost lodging to the families of veterans receiving treatment at military medical centers – as three annual $1 million gifts. Each year, $750,000 will be earmarked for the Heroes’ Legacy Scholarship program, which is open to the dependent, unmarried children, under age 23, of those who have fallen in battle and those who have died or have become disabled through their active military service since Sept. 11, 2001.

The remaining $250,000 will be allocated for building homes on the grounds of major military and Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers. The Foundation’s initial $3 million commitment helped fund the construction of Fisher Houses in Portland, Oregon and Houston

Enterprise’s support for the military goes back six decades. The company is named after the USS Enterprise, one of the aircraft carriers our founder, Jack Taylor, served on as a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II. It’s widely recognized as the most decorated warship in U.S. military history.

Today, Enterprise Holdings’ support of the military focuses on three key areas – recruitment and hiring, local operations and community relations. For more information about Enterprise Holdings’ military heritage and hiring opportunities, visit go.enterpriseholdings.com/military/.
